A message from our Director(s)

Meet the LLI team

At LLI, we believe that great learning starts with great teachers.

When you join a class at LLI, your teacher will welcome you as a new member of the LLI family. Our teaching staff are friendly and open, creating a wonderful classroom environment for our students. Our classrooms are light, airy and provide an excellent environment for study whatever level you are joining.

Our teacher will help and support you in your learning and encourage you to join in with class exercises, whether you are in class online or in person. All our teachers follow our LLI curriculum and teach using the Mastery Learning method. This mean that you learn by speaking and using the English language from your first lesson.

All our teaching staff at LLI have a great deal of ESL teaching experience in addition to their formal academic training. All of our LLI staff are TESL certified and have University/Teacher College training. Many of our teachers speak two or more different languages and represent a diverse range of languages and cultural backgrounds.

Lori is an Ontario Certified English Language Teacher (OCELT) with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Western University and an Adult Learning Certificate from St. Francis Xavier University. In addition, Lori holds the ACE TESOL Certification and the ACE TESOL Diploma.

Before teaching English as a second language, Lori worked in the financial industry for more than 20 years in training, learning and development and communication. This gave her the opportunity to work with many different people with a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Lori was born and raised in Canada, with my parents immigrating to Canada from Italy before she was born. One of the reasons Lori decided to teach ESL was seeing the challenges her parents faced coming to a country where they didn’t know the language and/or the culture.

When Lori is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves to travel and is working on getting dual citizenship, in the hope of teaching abroad in the future. Lori loves to be active so you can usually find her walking my dog, playing soccer or some sort of physical activity.

Position: ESL Instructor

Hi there, my name is Kyle and I have been an ESL teacher since 2014. After graduating from McMaster University with a degree in English & Cultural Studies, I started my career In Xi’an, China. I lived in Xi’an from 2015 – 2020 and taught everything from conversational English, IELTS, to business English for software companies. I have a worldly view and enjoy learning about different cultures and languages. I believe that language is the key to understanding and being able to enjoy what the world has to offer. This stems from my drive to learn as much as possible when I travel in order to avoid the discomfort and confusion of not knowing what is happening or being said around you! During my free time I really enjoy taking photos using old 35mm cameras as well as watching films from around the world. At LLI, I am always willing to help our students and create a fun learning environment where students don’t feel shy to express themselves and share their feelings. My job is to help you succeed in your English education journey!

Live classes with your teachers

Many schools use recorded video for their online courses but we do not. Our full-time and part-time ESL classes are all live classes.

Teaching a class with students sitting in front of them and online students too is a speciality of our staff here at LLI. Our teachers are highly skilled in creating a positive, interactive live classroom experience for all students, and our classroom technology ensure you can join in wherever you are in the world.

Throughout the week, you will have access to at least four different teachers in your particular learning level for your ESL program. This gives you the opportunity to learn from teachers with a wide range of experience and skills.

You also have access to all teaching materials, books, exercises and more via the LLI Virtual Learning Platform. You can sign in anytime and see your latest assignments to complete online. You can also view messages from your teachers via Teams.
