How much does it cost to learn English in Canada?

Published On: November 7, 2021

When you want to study English as a Second Language (ESL) at a language school, one of the first questions you will have is “How much will it cost?”

It can be difficult to compare prices for different language schools, as often they only show you the price for your classes (your tuition fees). They don’t include other important costs such as rent for where you will live during your course, medical insurance, airport transfers, etc.

Calculate all your English language course fees at LLI online

At the Learning Languages Institute, we like to show you how much everything will cost, including living and transport costs. Our free course fee calculator helps you find out how much money you will need.

You answer a few simple questions, such as how long your course is, and if you need to be collected from the airport. Our online ESL costs calculator does the rest!

What you need to know to use our calculator

You need the answers to five simple questions:

• How long do you want to study for?

At LLI, many students choose to study on a full-time ESL. Were offer full-time ESL programs, with a 7-level curriculum. This makes sure that you are placed into classes appropriate to your level, with students at the same level as you. Our curriculum is built on 4-week blocks, and each level last for 8 weeks. Discounts apply the longer you wish to study. For more details, see this page with guides to all our ESL courses.

• Do you need a homestay?

When you come to study at LLI as an international student, or from another part of Canada, you will need somewhere to live that is welcoming, safe and affordable. With our homestay option, you live with a Canadian family in their own home, with your own private room. It is a great way to stay somewhere warm, comfortable and with people who care about you and your welfare. All our families are hand-picked by our team here at LLI, so you can enjoy living as part of the family, and joining in their activities as well as college activities too. All meals (breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner) are included.

• Do you need an airport pickup?

Arriving in Canada for the first time will be a big change for you. Our airport pickup service will be there to greet you at Toronto international airport and drive you to your homestay or accommodation. So you don’t need to worry about finding the right bus, or getting a taxi. Often we’re collecting several people at the same time, so you get to meet other students too!

• Do you need medical insurance?

It is a Government requirement that all foreign students must obtain medical insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in Canada. We can arrange the right type of medical insurance coverage through GuardMe at a special rate of $2.00 per day, saving you both time and money.

• Do you want to pay in full or monthly?

You can choose to pay for your fees and costs monthly, so you don’t have to pay everything all at once. If you choose to pay in full in advance, you will receive a discount.
