How to apply to study at the Learning Languages Institute

You can apply for any LLI program at any time here at the LLI website. Here is our step-by-step guide to applying

First go to our “All programs” page and look at all the programs we offer here at LLI. Choose the program that you need. For example, that might be our LLI ESL (English as a Second Language) program.

This short test will help you work out what level of English you have at the moment. It is only a rough guide, but it will help you in deciding what program to apply for. Do not worry about what level of ESL course you want to join – we will choose that for you later.

The LLI Costs Calculator will help you work out how much your program will cost including fees, materials, accommodation and insurance. Refer to the program costs table first, and then add the fees into the Costs Calculator.

Once you have decided on your program, you can apply by clicking on the Apply Now! button on the program page. You will see an online form, which you need to fill in and submit to us. Make sure you fill in the form that is on the program page – some programs have different application forms. Also check if you require any documents to apply, such as a digital scan/copy of your passport.
A CAD$150 non-refundable deposit is required to process your application and issue a letter of acceptance. When you click “Submit now!” to submit your application, you will then be redirected to our secure online payment system. You then pay your $150 deposit. You will be emailed a receipt to show that your payment has been accepted.

Once your application fee is paid, the LLI team will send you details of your LLI Placement Test. This is a longer test that helps us place you in the right level for your language abilities. For more information, see our LLI Placement Test page.

If you are applying for the University/College Pathway for entrance into college (Diploma) and undergraduate (Degree) university programs, LLI will contact you. We will discuss your eligibility, check your IELTS scores and other pre-entry requirements, and find out which college or universities you wish to apply to.

Once we have assessed your language skills, we will:

  • Enrol you in your ESL, TOSL or TESOL program of choice at an appropriate level

OR

  • Send you a Conditional Letter of Acceptance for your college or University

If you require a visa, we can recommend a specialist immigration law firm to help you apply.

You are responsible for arranging flights or other travel into Canada, in order to arrive in good time for your program start date. Our office can arrange airport transfers – contact us for further information.

We can also book you in for homestay at this point.
