Catherine Semenzin Faculty

Originating from Toronto, Ontario and a member of the LLI teaching staff as of January 2015 which she considers a great honour, Cathy achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Guelph majoring in fine arts. At first she believed that she wanted to work in the advertising industry and went on to do a certificate in commercial art at George Brown College in Toronto. But a change in plans led her to live and teach English in Italy for several years which she grew to love very much and excel in. Upon returning to Canada, she wanted to continue her career in English teaching and having settled in London, Ontario, enrolled at LLI and did her TESOL certificate in the fall of 2014. She looks forward to continuing her education to upgrade her qualifications by doing the TESOL diploma course at LLI.

Cathy loves travelling and while living in Europe, took advantage of the opportunity to see as much of it as she could by visiting not only the great cities of Italy with their historical art and monuments but also Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and England. She keeps in close touch with all of her great friends in Italy and misses them very much but is also enjoying making new friends in London. She continues her teaching philosophy of always being there for her students and encouraging them in their education with kindness, patience and a sense of humour. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, following pro sports and her favourite teams, going ice skating, walking and swimming for exercise and indulging her pop culture addiction by watching her favourite TV shows, movies, perusing related internet sites and listening to rock and pop music.
