Big Bike for Heart and Stroke

According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (, we are seeing “an increase in the number of people who are physically inactive and dealing with obesity and diabetes − conditions that lead to heart disease and stroke. Investing in world-class research has never been more important.

Millions of Canadians are at risk of heart disease and stroke, and will be, for generations to come. More than 50,000
strokes, 70,000 heart attacks and up to 40,000 cardiac arrests occur every year.  Sadly, more than one in four deaths in Canada is due to heart disease or stroke. There is still so much to do to reduce death, disability, and for Canadians to  live healthy lives free of heart disease and stroke.”

The Big Bike is an awesome fundraising event that LLI was happy to join. Students and teachers raised money through a penny drive, toonie hearts, a car wash and BBQ as well as a bake sale and pizza lunch. We raised awareness and $…… The fundraising was completed by a crazy ride through London on an enormous red bicycle, 3 seats wide and about 22 long! Students and teachers were singing and shouting, reminding Londoners of who we were and what we were doing.
