ACE TESOL Diploma Ontario

TESOL DIPLOMA:

The ACE TESOL Diploma Program offered at Learning Languages Institute is an ESL teacher training course with 150 hours of classroom instruction and a 30-hour practicum course.

LLI offers the ACE TESOL Diploma program in an online- synchronous format based on the following schedule for the current term.

Term I

Term III

Classes run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00-9:15 p.m. EST

Please note:

  • Attending a minimum of 90% of the virtual classes is mandatory.  
  • Attending synchronous classes is required for applying for TESL Ontario Certification (OCELT).   If LLI does not off its TEOL training programs
  • The practicum must be scheduled separately. Please contact info@llinstititute.com for availabilities
  • To assure full compliance with the TESL Ontario Standards, the practicum will be offered in the following modes:
  • The practicum will be offered either fully in-person or in a hybrid mode: in-person & online in a synchronous format.
  • Up to half of the observation hours (= 10 hours) and practice teaching hours (= 5 hours) may be offered online-synchronously.  Please see chart for details

Participants can complete all three terms in one 3-month session, or spread the terms over two or three sessions.

Students are responsible for arranging their own medical insurance before traveling to Canada. Alternatively, LLI can arrange insurance via Guard.me if required.

At minimum, all applicants must possess a secondary school diploma. It is recommended that applicants also possess an undergraduate degree. Applicants without an undergraduate degree may be admitted to the training program but will not qualify for TESL Canada certification and TESL Ontario Certification (See the details below.)

Potential students may complete an in-house assessment test at LLI, or complete the AP1 level at LLI; however, they will not qualify for TESL Canada nor TESL Ontario certification unless one of the English language proficiency requirements outlined below is met.

TESL Canada and TESL Ontario English Language Proficiency Requirement

TESL Canada

Non-native speakers of English who wish to apply for TESL Canada Level One Certification must demonstrate English proficiency by one of the following methods:

  • TOEFL iBT: 101 overall with a minimum score of 23 in Listening, 24 in Reading, 27 in Speaking and 27 in Writing of 20 in each area
  • IELTS: 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 7.0 in each skill area
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree from a university in one of the following countries: Canada, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Benin, Bermuda, Botswana, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cameroon, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, Nigeria, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, Saint Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St.Vincent, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, United Kingdom, United States, Uganda, US Virgin Islands, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
