ESL Program

London Language Institute is one of Canada's premier educational institutions. The philosophy and mission of LLI were developed and based upon many years of experience in an International ESL market. LLI prides itself on delivering top quality programming to students from all over the world. Our "hands on" approach dealing with clients on an individual basis ensures that all issues are addressed while studying at LLI.

Modern learning techniques are utilized to ensure students learn in the most effective and interesting atmosphere. The Full-Time ESL Program at LLI is based on a minimum of 23 hours of study per week. After an assessment test is completed, the students are placed in an appropriate level corresponding with their abilities in Speaking, Listening, Reading, Grammar and Writing. LLI recognizes that students from different cultures that come to Canada to study ESL will have varying strengths and weaknesses in the different components of the English language. Our curriculum can cater to these differences by allowing students to study at a corresponding level for each of the components (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Grammar and Writing) rather than a uniform level. This possibility of differential levels allows a student to maximize their learning potential.

University Entrance Program. LLI offers a 9 level ESL program which includes two levels of Academic Preparation. These programs incorporate and combine CAEL/IELTS/TOEFL training into the curriculum. As students progress through this program their proficiency in CAEL/IELTS/TOEFL increases. As a result, when a student graduates from Academic Preparation 2 they will have a minimum CAEL 60, IELTS 6.0, ibT TOEFL score of 90 which meets most University entrance requirements. LLI is an official iBT testing centre with ETS and an official testing site with CAEL. LLI has been working closely with several Universities and Colleges across Canada. LLI will complete and assist students' applications to these Universities. Conditional letters of acceptance are available for undergraduate programs prior to a students arrival in Canada. Acceptance into the University is truly based on a students academic background. Transcripts from high school and/or University/College are required so we can screen the students pre-requisite courses. This program opens up many opportunities for students and does not limit a student to one University. This program assures students are taking advantage of their individual situation and their futures are secure!

It is LLI's policy to have class sizes that do not exceed 12 students. This standard facilitates a high level of class participation as well as a great deal of one-on-one interaction with the ESL instructor. Students arrive at LLI with various reasons for studying. Programs are offered that aid students in their plans for attending a University or College, in Canada or the United States. Additional programs are designed for students who require the knowledge of the English language for business purposes. Other students simply wish to experience a new language, and a new culture. Whatever the reason for studying English, LLI can cater to your needs and provide you with an effective and enjoyable ESL education.
